Sunlight always had that effect on you were having a nightmare of a hangover didn't it? It made you want to hide in the shade and cause a pain in the back of your head that could be classified as a course of torture. The pain was self inflicted so Dai had no real reason to complain but he did anyway. It was the way things were done. Everyone knew it was British tradition to moan about everything and anything. Dai pushed the dark shades he wore to block out the light up his nose. They kept slipping down every so often and it was beginning to get a little annoying. If it kept it there was a good chance they would be found on the floor somewhere snapped in two.

The entrance hall was empty as usually and the smell of teenagers hung in the air. Back in the day it would have smelled of food from the great hall and the potions from the dungeons. Not now it didn't it was more likely to smell of sick of some sort or the fug of to much aftershave and perfume. The smell to be honest made Dai a little bit sick not that he would admit if of course. He knew eating something would make him feel better but couldn't face it. The smell would make him feel sick and he would be sick if he ate anything just yet. he would go outside for a walk around and see if that helped in anyway. He doubted it would be it might take his mind off of things. Dai's footsteps echoed as he walked across the hall. He should have been heading to class instead of outside but he didn't feel up to it and he could always get the notes of someone who had been.

His hangover was in full effect, his routine of showering and all that hadn't helped. He needed pain killers of some sort either that or hair of the dog. No, having another drink would most definitely see him vomit in a style only described as spectacular. He also did not want to get his clothes in a mess. He may have only been wearing jeans and shirt and sneakers but he didn't want to have to change again and shower again. It was just to much hassle. he would avoid things that made him sick and wait until the hangover went away. It would be awhile yet as it was still in the i feel like i am dying stage. It would be at least an hour before he felt better and up to anything other than laying about.

bored, bored, bored. stella didn't feel like going to class, but what else was new? today, however, she absolutely refused to go. not that she had a real reason to skip her lessons, but she hardly gave a fuck if she got in trouble or not. her head of house could take away a hundred points from slytherin if he wanted and stella couldn't care less. she hadn't cared about much for quite some time now. not since derrick. she frowned and skulked out of the slytherin common room. once in the cool, winding corridors of the dungeons, she leaned against the stole wall and tipped her head back, breathing deeply. it was time to let go, she knew, but how could she? derrick had been her best friend. how was she expected to face this tragedy? just pack up and move on, forgetting all about him and not even bothering to honor his memory? no. stella was determined to keep him alive, if only in her own heart and mind. he'd never be truly gone if she could relate everything in her life to him, no matter how much pain it caused to rise up in her chest.

stella pushed past the small crowd in the entrance hall queueing to get into the great hall for lunch. she wasn't very hungry, her appetite curbed after stuffing her face with a handful of chocolate frogs and bertie bott's every-flavor beans. candy always managed to distract her, even if for a moment or two. it had almost the effect of alcohol, just not as strong. alcohol would have been better, actually, and more effective for forgetting life's problems and tragedies. however, stella couldn't get her hands on a bottle of alcohol to save her life. at least, not right now. she was far too distracted. she wandered out onto the grounds, the sparkling sun dazzling her for a moment. she stumbled around in the bright light for several minutes before regaining her sight. now that she was outside, what to do with herself? she decided to head toward the lake and perhaps just lay there for a while. it would be nice to be alone for a while before the first years poured over the grounds like they usually did after a midday meal.

the water ebbed and flowed towards the water bank where stella sat. the water was flowing over her jeans, soaking them straight through, but she didn't mind. it felt good, paired with the warm sun and cooling breeze. stella actually laid back and closed her eyes, allowing her hair to be fanned out around her face. half hoping that somebody else was outside, with the same goal of solitude that she had, she closed her eyes and tipped her face towards the sky.

Fresh air hit him like a bullet and made him feel just a little bit better. It was far better than going into the great hall and smelling fried food which would have made him hurl. Strong smells always had that effect on Dai and he was not ashamed to admit it. Plently of people were like that aswell. The only problem with going outside was the sunlight hence the shades he was wearing. It pierced your eyes and made your head feel like it would split into a thousand pieces. Dai walked down on the the many paths that lined the school grounds. He wasn't sure where he should head. Any where where it was quiet would be ideal.

Dai knew where the best spot would be, the lake. Everyone knew the lake was a good place and despite everyone knowing this you normally found that hardly anyone went down there. This was because it was always to cold to swim in unless the weather was unbearably hot. Which due to the school being where it was, was rare. The weather here ranged from mild to bitterly cold and that was about it. The only time you got egg frying hot was when there was a heat wave that had people in other parts of the country hidding inside all the time. Dai wondered where everyone was right now. He knew some people would be in class but it was the people who weren't in class that he was thinking about. The people who were outside laying about, those who were in empty classrooms getting up to whatever met their need for that moment in time.

It was as he reached the lake that he spotted one of those people he was thinking about and got an answer. One at least was laying by the lake. But why? That was the thought that popped into dai's mind. Were they like him and fighting off a hangover or were they just bored or was it something else? He could always ask and find out. As he got nearer still he say that this person was a female person. As to whom he was unsure. Names were not his strong point not that he would let on to that fact. his pride would not allow it. As a hufflepuff he was supposed to be humble shame it didn't seem to apply to him. Dai was almsot standing over her as he said "Hi"
